Man was driving for Uber when police found him shot in Dallas car crash, family says

Dallas Police homicide detectives are currently investigating the death of a man who was discovered shot after authorities responded to a car crash overnight in Dallas.

The incident occurred around 1:25 a.m. on Feb. 20 in the 2400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, where police were summoned to the scene of a reported crash.

Upon arrival, officers found 25-year-old Faneal Tesfit unresponsive in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, which had collided with the side of an empty house. Authorities determined that the victim had sustained gunshot wounds.

Despite efforts by Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel to save Tesfit, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Dallas Police Department, investigators believe that following the shooting, Tesfit lost control of his car, leading to the crash into the residence.

Family members disclosed that Tesfit was working as an Uber driver at the time of the incident.

Zoie Keating, a close friend of Tesfit since their freshman year at the University of Texas, described receiving news of his death as devastating. She highlighted Tesfit’s intelligence in biochemistry and his exceptional emotional intelligence, which endeared him to those around him.

Keating emphasized Tesfit’s kindness and passion for Dallas sports teams, noting his aspirations to attend medical school and his promising future.

She urged individuals with any information regarding the circumstances of Tesfit’s death to come forward, emphasizing the importance of closure for his loved ones.
