H-E-B hoping to find best Texas-made products

Winners of H-E-B Quest for Texas Best will receive a total of $70,000 in cash awards and the opportunity to showcase their products on H-E-B shelves statewide.

In its 11th year, the H-E-B Quest for Texas Best aims to identify outstanding products made in Texas. Over the past decade, H-E-B has discovered over a thousand diverse products originating from the Lone Star State, including cookies, coffees, salsas, spices, and more.

Submissions for the competition will be accepted from February 21 to April 4.

Following the submission period, H-E-B’s business development managers will select the most promising candidates to pitch their products to a panel of judges in Dallas later this summer.

The panel of judges will award cash prizes of $20,000, $15,000, and $10,000 to the first, second, and third place winners, respectively. The grand prize winner will receive $25,000, the title of “Texas Best,” and placement on store shelves.

James Harris, Sr. Director of Diversity & Inclusion and Supplier Diversity for H-E-B, expressed excitement about the upcoming competition, highlighting the enduring creativity and innovation of Texans.

Over 6,000 product samples made in Texas have been reviewed by H-E-B, resulting in nearly $2.5 million in prizes awarded, alongside additional support for marketing, mentorship, and other services.

Furthermore, fifty-one Quest for Texas Best suppliers have been recognized with commemorative H-E-B Million Dollar Club belt buckles for achieving $1 million in sales to date.

Participants can attend virtual information sessions on March 6, 13, 21, and 27 to learn about submission guidelines, product development best practices, and other details regarding the competition. Visit the H-E-B website to schedule a meeting and access competition specifics.
