3 firefighters suffer minor injuries after restaurant collapse in Second Ward, HFD says

In Houston, Texas (KTRK), the Houston Fire Department reported that at least three firefighters sustained injuries during a restaurant fire in the city’s Second Ward on Saturday morning.

Firefighters were called to respond to a fire at a restaurant located near 2221 Canal Street and Navigation Boulevard.

The blaze was swiftly extinguished; however, firefighters were transported to nearby hospitals after sustaining minor injuries due to a partial collapse of the restaurant’s roof.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and there is no information available regarding additional injuries at this time.

According to a social media update from the firefighters, the roof collapse was described as minor.

Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña later confirmed that all three firefighters are in stable condition, with two of them already discharged from the hospital.

Chief Peña expressed gratitude to Memorial Hermann Hospital for the care provided to the injured firefighters and stated that further information regarding the fire’s cause is pending.
