Mother of 2-year-old shot playing toys outside expected to make recovery

Aisha Howard, the mother of a 2-year-old boy shot while playing outside in the Fourth Ward, stated that her son is expected to make a full recovery.

The incident occurred when several people witnessed four vehicles passing by the 1300 block of Gillette Street, where at least 40 shots were fired, crossing over Ruthven Street. Two-year-old Braylon Benoit, playing with his dinosaur toys, was caught in the crossfire and struck twice.

Despite breaking his arm and suffering liver damage, he is stable, with a positive prognosis for recovery. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and police are investigating the incident with leads provided by the family and friends who were present during the shooting. No charges have been filed yet.

Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers of Houston to assist in the investigation.
