Dallas police officer and 2 others injured in overnight shooting, 5 suspects in custody

A Dallas police officer is in stable condition following a shooting incident that occurred on Thursday morning in Dallas.

The Dallas Police Department reported that around 12:45 a.m., officers, operating in a covert capacity and utilizing an unmarked vehicle, observed a vehicle driving erratically in the 3200 block of Easter Avenue.

Subsequently, officers initiated pursuit of the vehicle. During the chase, a suspect inside the vehicle opened fire at the officers in their unmarked car.

One of the bullets pierced through the driver’s side door, striking an officer in the hip.

Air One and Dallas police continued the pursuit, ultimately apprehending five suspects in the 7200 block of Chesterfield Drive.

The injured officer was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery. His condition was reported as stable.

Two suspects were also taken to an area hospital, one for chest pain and the other for non-life-threatening injuries.

Upon investigation, police determined that the suspect vehicle had been stolen. One suspect remains at large.

During the incident, two firearms were recovered, one from inside the vehicle and another discarded outside the vehicle.

No officers discharged their weapons during the pursuit.
