Couple says they found burglar inside their new Frisco home before police shooting

A Frisco couple had a harrowing encounter when they came face-to-face with an armed intruder while moving into their new home over the weekend.

A.J. Steele recounted to NBC 5 that while moving in on Saturday, they encountered an issue with the garage door of their apartment unit, which initially wouldn’t open. After seeking assistance from the leasing office, a maintenance employee managed to open it.

To their shock, they found an individual sitting in a car inside the garage, attempting to reverse out. Steele confronted the individual, asking why they were in their garage. However, the person seemed unable to provide a coherent response.

Steele mentioned that their moving truck blocked the suspect’s vehicle, preventing them from leaving. The suspect fled on foot back into the apartment through the garage door.

Promptly, Steele dialed 911, and Frisco Police responded swiftly to the scene.

According to the Frisco Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence on Legacy Drive and Lakehill Boulevard following reports of a burglary in progress.

As the couple awaited outside during the police response, Frisco Police informed NBC 5 that they encountered an armed suspect at the scene, resulting in an officer discharging their weapon.

The police department emphasized that the shooting was an isolated event and stated that the Texas Rangers are leading the investigation.

Details regarding the precise location of the officer-involved shooting and any injuries sustained have not been disclosed.

Frisco Police confirmed to NBC 5 that no officers were harmed during the incident. There is currently no information available regarding the condition of the suspect.

“We don’t feel safe enough to stay, at least in this unit for sure,” Steele expressed.
