4-year-old girl leads officers to murder-suicide of 2 adults inside home across from TSU, HPD says

In Houston, Texas, a 4-year-old girl alerted authorities to a distressing situation within a residence in the Greater Third Ward area. The Houston Police Department’s South Central Patrol received a call at 8:55 p.m. on Monday reporting a need for assistance at a home located in the 4200 block of Ennis Street, situated directly across from the Texas Southern University campus.

Upon arrival, officers were informed by the child that her mother required help as she had fallen inside the residence. Subsequently, law enforcement discovered a man deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, while the mother was found critically injured. Emergency medical services promptly transported the woman to the hospital for urgent care.

Initial investigations suggest that the man shot the woman before taking his own life. Family members were contacted to provide support for the young girl. Authorities clarified that the incident was unrelated to Texas Southern University despite its proximity.
