Deputy constable in uniform when sheriff’s deputies arrest him for highway racing, HCSO says

In Harris County, Texas, a deputy constable from Precinct 4, identified as Christopher Ricardo Rojas, allegedly engaged in reckless driving behavior over the weekend, despite being dressed for duty. Instead of responding to an emergency or pursuing a suspect, Rojas was reportedly involved in a high-speed freeway race following a parking lot gathering.

Initially labeled as a takeover by law enforcement, it was later confirmed by that the event was a legally organized car meet-up with sponsors and permission from property owners. The event, promoted on Instagram by Northside movements, aimed to provide a networking and socializing platform for car enthusiasts, with approximately 200 attendees. Organizers explicitly discouraged reckless driving in their promotional posts.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), Rojas was observed driving a late-model black Ford Mustang leaving a parking lot at the Cam Fuel gas station on Old Humble Road. HCSO units witnessed Rojas and another vehicle, a black Chevrolet Camaro, accelerating to speeds exceeding 100 mph on the freeway.

Both vehicles were stopped by HCSO units, and Rojas was charged with racing on a highway. Details regarding the other driver were not disclosed by the sheriff’s office.

Rojas was arrested and later released on a $100 bond. Precinct 4 command staff were reportedly informed of the incident and responded to Rojas’ detainment. Eyewitness News reached out to Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s office for comment on Rojas’ employment status but has yet to receive a response.

Family members of Rojas declined to comment on the situation when contacted by.
