Pindi RPO orders security audit of foreigners to ensure their safety

RAWALPINDI: The Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi Region Babar Sarfraz Alpa has ordered the security audit of foreigners, especially the Chinese nationals to ensure their safety.

Chairing a meeting to review security, crime and law and order situation here at the regional office on Wednesday, he said the audit should be carried out jointly by all law enforcement agencies.

A spokesman for the RPO said that the meeting was attended by CPO Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, SSP Investigation and other officers from the regional offices while DPOs Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal participated in the meeting through video link.

Besides the current security situation, Ramazan security arrangements were discussed in the meeting and special instructions were issued to the participants to take strict action against drug dealers, kite sellers and other criminal elements.

All possible steps will be taken to protect the life and property of the people and maintain the supremacy of law, RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa said.

All the district police officers gave a detailed briefing to the RPO on security, law and order and overall crime situation. The measures taken in this regard were discussed in the meeting.

RPO Rawalpindi region, speaking to the participants of the meeting, said that by making the mutual associations with all the law enforcement agencies more effective, the security of foreigners, especially the Chinese, security audit should be conducted by the relevant agencies.

The RPO directed an effective security plan for Hazrat Ali (R) martyrdom day. The RPO discussed with the participants regarding crime and kept the proposed SOP for registration of cases in mind.

Timely completion of the records should be ensured, immediate registration of electricity theft cases and arrest of the accused should be ensured. Strict legal action should be taken against the elements involved in wheelie, firing in the air, rioting and any other illegal activities.

He also directed to ensure effective security arrangements in all crowded places.

Expressing concern over the traffic situation in the region, especially in the garrison city, the RPO directed to take steps to further improve traffic flow, effective operations against criminal elements.

The RPO further said that the ongoing campaign against drug dealers and kite sellers should be accelerated and in this regard the orders issued by IG Punjab should be implemented.

The RPO informed the participants that a follow-up meeting will also be held to review whether his directives were taken seriously and implemented or ignored.

The RPO said that all possible measures will be taken to ensure the safety of people’s lives and property and to uphold the rule of law.

After the RPO’s meeting, the CPO Rawalpindi went into a session with SSP investigation, chief traffic officer, DSP security and DSPs to review the law and order and the police performance.

The CPO urged the meeting to take effective measures to curb the motorcycle and car theft in Rawalpindi.
