Houston Cougars complimentary of confident Duke Blue Devils ahead of Sweet 16 clash

In Dallas, Texas, Duke Blue Devils star Kyle Filipowski expressed confidence ahead of their upcoming matchup against the top-seeded Houston Cougars in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Filipowski, a sophomore center for the fourth-seeded team, asserted, “When we play our best basketball, there is no one that can stop us.”

While Duke exudes confidence, they remain grounded, drawing strength from their storied history as five-time national champions.

On the other side, Jamal Shead, a key player for the Coogs, emphasized their focused approach, stating, “I think we prepare just like any other game.” Despite acknowledging Duke’s formidable reputation, Shead remained composed and focused on the task at hand.

As the Cougars completed a brief open practice in Dallas ahead of the matchup, players like Ramon Walker reflected on the significance of facing Duke, describing it as “a dream come true.”

With their sights set on the Final Four, the Cougars will lean on their renowned defense, recognized as the nation’s best, to counter Duke’s potent offensive lineup. Head coach Kelvin Sampson is expected to have the team well-prepared for the challenge.

Tip-off for the highly anticipated matchup is scheduled for 8:39 p.m. CT on Friday.
