Neighbors on edge after dog owner dead blocks away from Washington Avenue: ‘Honestly kind of scared’

According to authorities, a man walking his dog was fatally shot during a potential robbery in the Washington Avenue Coalition/Memorial Park neighborhood in Houston.

The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Co-Op apartments on Summer Street, close to Washington Avenue, at approximately 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Upon arrival, police attempted to provide assistance, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim, believed to be in his 30s, sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The shooter remains at large as law enforcement continues their search.

Lieutenant J.P. Horelica stated, “We do have information that he lives here. He is a resident. Like I said, he was walking his dog this evening. There are some signs, we have to confirm, indication there was possibly a robbery involved.”

Investigators are actively seeking surveillance footage from the area to aid in their investigation.
