Cedar Hill man arrested this week faces felony assault in U.S. Capitol breach, DOJ says

A Cedar Hill resident, identified as a suspected member of the “Proud Boys,” was apprehended on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting law enforcement officers during the January 6, 2021 breach of the U.S. Capitol.

Steve Saxiones, aged 46, faces multiple felony charges, including obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder and assault on a federal officer. Additionally, he is charged with several misdemeanors related to unlawfully entering or remaining in restricted areas and engaging in disorderly conduct.

Saxiones was arrested in Cedar Hill and is scheduled for an initial court appearance in the Northern District of Texas.

Following the Capitol attack, over 1,300 individuals from across the nation have been arrested and prosecuted for their involvement in disrupting the joint session of Congress.

Court documents reveal that Saxiones allegedly participated in efforts to breach barricades and physically engage with law enforcement officers on January 6, 2021. Investigators also uncovered his involvement in online discussions regarding travel to Washington D.C. and potential violence, as well as his inquiries about flying with body armor.

The ongoing investigation urges anyone with information to contact the FBI hotline or submit tips online. Saxiones’ legal representation status remains undisclosed at this time.
