‘I take full responsibility for my part,’ Rashee Rice issues public apology after Dallas hit-and-run

Four days following a hit-and-run collision involving six vehicles on a Dallas freeway, NFL player Rashee Rice has taken “full responsibility” for his involvement in the incident.

The crash, which occurred Saturday evening on Central Expressway near University Boulevard, resulted in injuries to four individuals.

Dashcam footage obtained by NBC 5 from a witness revealed two high-end sports cars, a rented Lamborghini SUV, and a Corvette speeding past another vehicle. The SUV subsequently collided with a median wall, triggering a chain reaction of crashes involving four other vehicles.

Following the collision, three individuals were observed on dashcam footage exiting one of the sports cars and leaving the scene. TMZ Sports obtained pictures showing a total of five people departing from the site.

Dallas Police reported that the occupants of both the Lamborghini and the Corvette fled the scene without stopping to check for injuries or provide their information. Two of the drivers involved received minor injuries, while two occupants of another vehicle were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Rice released a statement expressing remorse for his role in the incident and pledged to cooperate with authorities. However, he did not confirm whether he was driving either of the vehicles or present in either car at the time of the crash.

Dallas Police confirmed they had spoken with Rice and his attorney, adding that the investigation is ongoing, and they are in contact with witnesses, victims, and other potentially involved parties.

Victims of the crash emphasized the need for more than a social media apology, with one injured passenger’s attorney advocating for the responsible drivers to be held accountable.

Rice’s attorney, State Sen. Royce West, stated that Rice is cooperating with local authorities and will address the situation responsibly.

The NFL indicated it is monitoring the situation and will liaise with the team in such incidents involving players. The Kansas City Chiefs, Rice’s team, acknowledged the crash but declined further comment.

Rice, a 23-year-old North Richland Hills native who played college football at SMU, was selected by the Chiefs in the second round last year and had a noteworthy rookie season during the team’s Super Bowl campaign.
