Rashee Rice was driving 119 mph moments before Dallas crash, Teddy Knox surrenders

Rashee Rice, a wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, was allegedly driving a Lamborghini SUV at a speed of 119 mph just before causing a multiple-vehicle collision on Central Expressway last month, injuring at least four people, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by The Dallas Morning News.

Both Rice and another driver involved in the crash, Theodore Knox, a football player at SMU, are facing charges including aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury, and collision involving injury.

The affidavit states that on March 30, Rice and Knox were speeding along U.S. Highway 75 near University Boulevard, making aggressive maneuvers to navigate through traffic. The crash, involving four other vehicles, was captured on a witness’s dashcam video. Following the collision, occupants of the sports cars reportedly fled the scene without providing assistance or their information.

Rice surrendered to police in Glenn Heights and was subsequently released on bond after posting $40,000 for the eight charges. Knox surrendered the following day and was also released on bond.

SMU confirmed that Knox had been suspended from the football team following notification from Dallas police about the arrest warrant. The university stated that federal student privacy laws prevented them from disclosing further details regarding disciplinary actions.

Rice, originally from North Richland Hills, played college football at SMU before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023.
