Innocent River Oaks neighbor ‘horrified’ his address used in alleged carjacking of delivery driver

In Houston, Texas, a disturbing incident unfolded when a pizza delivery driver was assaulted and carjacked after responding to a call at a residence near River Oaks, where no legitimate order had been placed, as per police reports.

Surveillance footage from a home on Dunraven Lane in the Glendower Court neighborhood captured the alarming attack.

The Houston Police Department contacted Michael Olsen around 1 a.m. on Sunday, requesting to review his video footage after inquiring if he had indeed ordered a pizza. Olsen, shocked by the news, expressed his dismay, stating, “I was just horrified that something like that would happen at my house and would use my address for such a crime.”

According to HPD, someone had called Papa John’s on South Shepherd Drive earlier on Saturday night and placed an order for delivery to Olsen’s address, setting up the driver for the attack.

Olsen recounted the harrowing event, describing how the driver was ambushed as he exited his vehicle to deliver the pizza. “As the pizza delivery driver got out of his car, he was standing in the middle, I guess, getting ready to ring my doorbell, and they converged on him from side to side. He didn’t stand a chance,” Olsen remarked.

The assailants, believed to number at least two, pistol-whipped the driver and held him at gunpoint before stealing his car, along with the pizza, police stated. Olsen expressed concern for the driver’s well-being, hoping for his swift recovery.

Papa John’s declined to comment on the driver’s condition, although surveillance footage indicated that he walked away from the scene. Police identified him as a 20-year-old individual.

Olsen emphasized the need for heightened awareness of safety in light of this incident. Despite residing in his home for 62 years, he could not recall a similarly violent attack occurring on his street, underscoring the significance of the event as a wake-up call for the community.
