Houston Texans QB CJ Stroud woke up to Stefon Diggs trade news: ‘That’s what they’re talking about’

In the wake of Stefon Diggs’ trade to his third NFL team, Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans and star quarterback C.J. Stroud have lauded the former All-Pro receiver, expressing excitement about his addition to the team.

Stroud, who got to know Diggs at the Pro Bowl last season, praised the veteran’s wealth of experience and wisdom, anticipating that it would benefit the receiving corps. Reflecting on how he learned of Diggs’ arrival, Stroud humorously recounted waking up to the news on Instagram, admitting he was initially unaware due to his phone being on “Do Not Disturb.”

Ryans echoed Stroud’s sentiments, describing Diggs as a leader and emphasizing his positive impact on the team. Contrary to past portrayals, Ryans emphasized Diggs’ qualities as a teammate, captain, and game-changer on the field.

Notably, Diggs and Stroud have already collaborated during offseason workouts in Los Angeles, where they were joined by teammates Tank Dell and John Metchie III. Stroud commended Dell’s progress following a setback due to injury, while also praising Metchie’s impressive performance as he continues to recover from leukemia.

In addition to discussing player acquisitions, defensive end Will Anderson Jr. shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming reveal of the Texans’ new uniforms on April 23, emphasizing their significance in reconnecting with the Houston community and generating excitement for football.
