2 customers shot over waitress’ stolen cell phone in Denver Harbor area, HPD says

Investigators in Houston, Texas, are currently assessing whether charges will be brought against a man accused of shooting two patrons following an altercation over a stolen phone at a sports bar on Lyons Avenue and Boyles in the Denver Harbor area.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. when a waitress discovered her phone missing from behind the bar where two men were drinking. Surveillance footage identified one of the customers as the culprit.

In response, the waitress contacted her boyfriend, who arrived at the bar. Confrontation ensued, leading to a physical altercation between the boyfriend and the alleged thief. The boyfriend retrieved a gun from his car and assaulted the suspect. When the other customer intervened to assist his friend, the boyfriend fired two shots, injuring both individuals.

Fortunately, the wounded customers are expected to recover. The shooter and the waitress remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.

Authorities will consult with the district attorney’s office to determine potential charges.
