Father and son injured in alleged targeted incident where more than 30 bullets were fired, HPD says

A man and his son are hospitalized following a drive-by shooting in northeast Houston that occurred on Wednesday afternoon, leaving neighbors seeking shelter as bullets flew, according to authorities.

Houston Police Department’s post on X, formerly known as Twitter, indicated that the shooting occurred around 3 p.m. at 7200 Gore Drive.

Reports suggest that the gunfire narrowly missed a 91-year-old woman inside her home on Gore Drive, while other residents dropped to the ground to avoid being hit.

Police revealed that over 30 bullets were discharged, indicating a targeted attack on the residence.

A resident across the street recounted the terrifying moment, describing the sound of gunfire and her instinct to take cover, especially given previous disturbances in the area.

Family members of the injured victims stated that the altercation originated from an argument the previous night, which escalated into gunfire.

Relatives shared that both the man and his son were shot but are expected to recover, despite sustaining serious injuries.

The wounded man, aged 71 or 72, suffered a gunshot wound to the face, while his 37-year-old nephew was shot twice in the leg.

Authorities have not yet released a description of the suspects but noted that they fled the scene in a maroon or red-colored sedan.

According to ABC13’s Neighborhood Safety Tracker, the vicinity where the shooting occurred is home to approximately 19,000 residents residing in Edgeworth, Northwood Manor, and Scenic Woods. Data from the past 12 months reveals around 752 reported assaults in the area.
