SWAT enters SW Houston home searching for suspect during hourslong standoff

SWAT officers equipped with gas masks entered a residence in southwest Houston hours after initiating a response to a warrant service on Tuesday.

The Houston Police Department reported that officers had been present at the location off Ridgecreek Drive since 10:30 a.m., endeavoring to execute the warrant.

It is suspected that the individual being sought may be the sole occupant of the residence.

According to HPD Lt. Larry Crowson, the suspect was wanted on charges related to possession of controlled substances. Crowson further stated that officers initially made contact with the suspect outside the residence, but the individual fled inside and refused to exit.

SWAT officers, as per the lieutenant, conducted a thorough search inside the residence for over an hour, even resorting to deploying tear gas. However, they remained uncertain about the suspect’s condition.

Police also noted that the home appeared to have significant clutter, possibly indicative of a hoarding situation.

As of 10 p.m. Tuesday, law enforcement had not disclosed the outcome regarding the suspect or whether investigations were ongoing at the residence.
