PETA urges planned Peppa Pig Theme Park in North Texas to serve only vegan foods

PETA has made a unique request to the developers of the upcoming Peppa Pig Theme Park in North Texas: abstain from selling meat.

In a recent letter addressed to Hasbro and Merlin Entertainments, PETA voiced concerns that serving animal-based food at the park would contradict the values promoted by the beloved children’s show and could upset young Peppa Pig fans.

The animal rights organization urged the park to align with Peppa Pig’s message of kindness to animals by offering visitors a menu consisting of healthy and humane vegan options. Specifically, PETA suggested keeping animal flesh, milk, and eggs off the menu at Miss Rabbit’s Diner.

PETA President Ingrid Newkirk emphasized that Peppa’s young audience would be dismayed to discover that characters like Miss Rabbit were serving meat and dairy products sourced from animals who share similar characteristics to those depicted in the show. She urged the theme park to consider offering a variety of delicious vegan foods that would appeal to all visitors.

Additionally, PETA highlighted the potential for a surge in visitor numbers if the park opted to exclude animal products from its menu.

The letter also drew attention to the decision to refrain from selling pork at the Florida theme park and encouraged a similar approach in Texas, emphasizing the intelligence, playfulness, and affectionate nature of pigs.

NBC 5 reached out to the park for comment but has not received a response yet.

The Peppa Pig Theme Park is slated to open in North Richland Hills later this year, marking the second of its kind in the U.S., with the first located in central Florida. Upon opening, the North Texas park will offer a range of attractions, including kid-friendly rides, themed play areas, and entertainment options such as an indoor cinema.
