Survivor shot near Frisco Walmart shares story as police announce two arrests

Six months after a fatal shooting outside a Walmart in Frisco, authorities report that those responsible are now in custody.

Jhirrell Harris and Stephanie Gayden face charges of capital murder. Additionally, Harris is charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault in connection to the shooting of another man, Zachary Lowe, who survived.

Lowe, speaking for the first time since the incident, expressed gratitude for being alive but acknowledged the loss of another individual in the shooting.

The incident occurred on November 15, 2023, as Lowe was leaving work at Walmart. He recounted being threatened at gunpoint by a man who demanded his belongings. Another passerby, later identified as Dung Doan, inadvertently distracted the gunman, allowing Lowe to flee. However, he was struck twice in the back.

Tragically, Doan lost his life in the altercation.

Lowe spent about a month in the hospital, enduring extensive physical and emotional pain. Six months later, he received news of the arrests of Harris and Gayden, bringing some relief.

Frisco police confirmed Harris’s arrest in Louisiana and Gayden’s arrest in McKinney. Investigators believe Gayden was involved as the driver of the getaway car, registered in her name.

Lowe, still recovering from his injuries, expressed hope for continued improvement despite the challenges he faces.

Authorities stated that Harris will be transferred to the Collin County jail from Louisiana, where he was already in custody on unrelated charges.

An attorney representing Gayden stated that their investigation is ongoing but emphasized that Gayden is not the alleged shooter in the case.
