Westfield HS product ready to tackle next chapter in life after Naval Academy graduation

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Former Westfield Mustangs defensive back Marcus “Tiki” Moore Jr. has always been a standout leader. Known as “Tiki” by family and friends, Moore excelled both on the field and in the classroom, earning All-District and All-Academic honors for two consecutive years. His dedication to both academics and athletics led him to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

“I was focused on my future from a young age,” Moore Jr. said. “I wasn’t just thinking about the next four years of playing football, but about the next forty years and how I could set myself up for success.”

Moore Jr.’s parents, Kashawana and Marcus Sr., instilled in him the values of character, leadership, and hard work. Attending the Naval Academy further honed these qualities.

“Even before the academy, my work ethic was strong,” he said. “Hard work isn’t just a word to me; it’s an opportunity to grow and improve.”

Last week, Moore Jr. graduated from the Naval Academy and was commissioned as an ensign. He reflected on the importance of leadership, character development, time management, and humility instilled by the academy.

Moore Jr. is currently back home but will soon return to train for his role in surface warfare in Norfolk, Virginia.

“I’ve changed so much over the last four years,” Moore Jr. said. “Seeing my growth in character and leadership, I wouldn’t change my decision for the world. I’m thrilled to be reaping the benefits of four years of hard work.”
