Meghan Markle, Prince Harry ‘stage-managed’ Archie’s birth to dodge press

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle went great lengths to keep intrusive British media away from knowing the nitty gritty of the birth of Prince Archie.

In a new interview with The Sun, royal photographer Arthur Edwards accused the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for lying about the exact time of the birth of their first child.

For the unversed, the former royal couple refused to introduce their son to the world by standing on the steps of the hospital in a major break from tradition.

Instead, Buckingham Palace released a statement in the afternoon confirming that Meghan had gone into labour “in the early hours of the morning”.

It was followed by a second announcement less than an hour later, stating she had delivered a son at 5.26 a.m. that morning, sparking confusion across the public.

“When William was born, and Harry was born, and George, Charlotte, Louis, we got great pictures outside the hospital,” Edwards, 83, recalled. “William and Catherine especially — they made such an effort to show the whole world their baby.”

According to the New York Post, he said, exaggerating: “Harry’s baby Archie was almost teething before we found out he was born.

“We were led to believe that she was going into labor at 2 o’clock, when the baby had been born many hours earlier. We were led to believe it was going to be a home birth, and it was at a hospital. The whole thing was just stage-managed to suit them.”

He also recalled some of the royal family members, including Camilla, being on a royal tour in Germany at the time.
