North Texas organizations fill economic gap in wake of storms

In the aftermath of the storms, various organizations across North Texas are stepping up to provide food and essential items to families facing financial strain.

Irving resident Stephanie Morris, like many others, endured days without power during the recent storm. With five children at home, the loss of refrigerated food was particularly challenging, especially with the added expenses of feeding them more meals now that school is out.

To assist families impacted by the storm, the Libre Institute and Agape Connect teamed up to offer food, water, and hygiene items on a first-come-first-served basis. Organizer Gerson Hernandez emphasized the ongoing need for support, especially with many families still without electricity.

In collaboration with Dallas ISD, the Office of Emergency Management will open a multi-agency resource center at Truett Elementary over the weekend, providing various essentials including water, clothing, nonperishable foods, kitchen appliances, and hygiene products.

Despite the challenges, the sight of helping hands is encouraging for residents like April Sanderson, whose parents are still without power. For those seeking assistance with food and essential items, resources are available through organizations like the American Red Cross North Texas Region.
