‘I will always miss him’: 20-year-old fatally electrocuted while doing tree work in Arlington

At just 20 years old, Carl Blaylock III, affectionately known as Trey, had already achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first member of his family to graduate from high school.

Jasmine Blaylock, 22, fondly remembers her brother Trey as a loving and caring individual who shared a close bond with her. She recalls, “He was the best brother I could ask for. He was loving, caring, and me and him did everything together.”

Despite his young age, Trey harbored ambitious dreams of exploring the world. “He wanted to travel the world,” Jasmine reminisces.

Tragedy struck on Saturday, May 25, when Arlington Police responded to an incident at a residence in the 4700 block of Belle Point Ct. Trey was tragically electrocuted while working with a chainsaw up in a tree, apparently after accidentally hitting a power line.

Despite efforts to save him, Trey was pronounced dead at the scene. Carl David Blaylock, Trey’s father, expressed the profound loss, lamenting, “He was too young. He had so much more to live for. I will always miss him.”

According to authorities, there is no evidence of foul play, and the incident is believed to be a tragic accident.

Trey’s father remembers him as a kind-hearted individual who was deeply devoted to his fiancée and their unborn child, Leilani Marie Blaylock. Trey was diligently saving money for their future and had envisioned providing his daughter with the best life possible.

Now, the family is rallying to raise funds for Trey’s cremation and to establish a trust fund for Leilani, who is due in December.

Despite his untimely passing, Trey’s legacy lives on through the anticipation of his daughter’s arrival. Jasmine reflects, “He wanted Leilani to have the best life that he didn’t have. He wanted to give her everything that he couldn’t.”
