Woman found dead in East Harris County apartment had bodily “trauma”, HCSO reports

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A welfare check on Sunday led to the discovery of a 46-year-old woman found dead inside her East Harris County apartment, according to police.

The woman was discovered at Lafayette Village Apartments, located at 4822 E. Sam Houston Parkway North, on Sunday afternoon.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office suspects that the woman died from bodily trauma but has not provided further details.

“We are currently working to establish a timeline and determine exactly what happened,” said Jason Brown of the Sheriff’s Office.

Family members reportedly found the victim after being unable to contact her all weekend.

“They came to the location and eventually forced their way into the apartment, where they found the female deceased inside,” Brown stated.

Upon examination, deputies noted that the victim appeared to have “trauma” to her body. The exact cause of death has yet to be determined.

“We’re not going to speculate. We know she died from some kind of trauma, and we’ll go from there,” Brown said.

Investigators reported no signs of forced entry or robbery. They believe the woman may have been dead for several days before being found.

“She lived at the location alone except for her son. We are currently trying to locate and speak with him,” Brown added.

Detectives have spoken with the woman’s daughter. At this time, there is no motive or narrative, and no evidence of a break-in before the family discovered her.
