Fires in Punjab’s Kahuta, Kotli Sattian forests put out after hours

RAWALPINDI: Firefighters controlled fires that broke out in the forests of Kahuta and Kotli Sattian after hours-long efforts on Sunday.

According to emergency services Rescue 1122 officials, bushfire broke out at different points in the jungle of Baigar Sharif of Kahuta at about 2:30pm and another erupted in a forest in Guzara tehsil of Kotli Sattian at about 3:30pm.

According to emergency services, more than seven firefighters and rescuers were engaged in extinguishing the flames in the jungle of Kahuta village, which was controlled by firefighters after efforts of more than three hours.

Similarly, Rescue 1122 officials said after receiving a call about the fire in Guzara forest, emergency vehicles were dispatched to the spot while staff reached the area on foot.

The forest department and Guzara forest staff also reached the location. The fire incident was also reported to the central control room.

Due to absence of road access, rescue vehicles stopped on the road about 4km away from the fire while the staff reached the scene on foot.

The fire in the forest of Kotli Sattian was controlled by firefighters after efforts of more than two hours.

Meanwhile, another fire erupted in Kaseri Forest along Kohala Road at 7pm on Sunday.

According to emergency services, shortly after a call was received by the control room, emergency vehicles along with firefighters were sent to the scene.
