North Texas renters affected by recent devastating storms eligible for FEMA assistance

North Texans affected by the recent storms, tornadoes, and flooding starting from April 26 can seek assistance through FEMA’s Individual Assistance program.

This aid isn’t limited to homeowners but extends to renters, including students, who have experienced uninsured losses in specified counties.

FEMA grants are available to assist renters with temporary housing expenses. Additionally, they may qualify for financial aid to replace essential personal property, cover medical and dental costs, transportation, childcare, moving and storage expenses, and other uninsured losses.

To apply for FEMA aid, individuals can visit disasterassistance.gov/, download the FEMA App, call the FEMA helpline, or visit any Disaster Recovery Center.

Apart from FEMA assistance, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) offers support in disaster recovery. The application process has been streamlined to allow individuals to apply for both FEMA and SBA aid simultaneously. SBA representatives are available at Disaster Recovery Centers to provide one-on-one assistance to disaster loan applicants.

To apply for SBA assistance, individuals can apply online at SBA.gov/disaster, visit an SBA Business Recovery Center, or contact SBA’s Customer Service Center.

For more information and updates, individuals can refer to FEMA’s disaster site and FEMA Region 6’s social media channels.
