Astros are riding a win streak, just not the one you’d expect

SAN FRANCISCO, California (KTRK) — There’s no sugarcoating it: the Houston Astros desperately need wins amid a slew of injuries.

Currently standing at 30-36, the team has won six of its last ten games after a three-game losing streak. However, the defending AL West Division champions have been playing catch-up to the Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers during this stretch.

Sunday served as a harsh reminder of their struggles when they blew a 7-5 lead in the eighth inning and lost on a walk-off home run against the Los Angeles Angels.

That was game number 66 of the season. But game number 67 might offer some hope.

The Houston Astros have not lost their last 12 games played as the 67th game of a full season.

Barstool Sports personality Nicky Smokes highlighted this streak on social media, and confirmed it through the Baseball Reference database.

Remarkably, this streak dates back to the team’s 100-loss seasons, when the Astros encouraged fans to trust the rebuilding process.

However, it’s worth noting that five of those 67th games occurred when the team had a losing record. None of those teams made it to the postseason.

Will Houston at least improve to five games under .500 on Monday night?
