North Texas man gets 35 years for setting neighbor’s porch on fire over loud music complaint

A Grapevine resident has been sentenced to over 30 years in prison after being convicted of setting fire to a neighbor’s porch following a dispute over loud music.

The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office reported that David Alferez, 44, was found guilty by a jury of arson intended to damage a dwelling in connection with an incident on December 17, 2022.

According to prosecutors, Alferez was playing loud music in his trailer when his neighbor requested him to lower the volume. Angered by the request, Alferez poured a flammable liquid on the neighbor’s porch and ignited it. The entire incident was captured on camera, and the fire was extinguished without causing further harm.

The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office commended the Grapevine Police Department, the Grapevine Fire Department, and the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office for their efforts in investigating the case and ensuring community safety.
