Several hospitalized in chain crash involving 4 vehicles and METRORail near TMC, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Six people were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle chain crash involving a METRORail on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Houston Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Old Spanish Trail and Greenbriar.

METRO police reported that the incident began when two vehicles collided, propelling them into the path of an oncoming Red Line train. The train then struck at least one of the vehicles.

In total, four vehicles and the METRO train were involved in the crash. Authorities have confirmed that six people were taken to the hospital, though the severity of their injuries remains unknown.

Police are currently investigating the cause of the initial collision.
