18-wheeler driver wanted after fatally hitting 53-year-old bicyclist near Beltway 8, HPD says

In Houston, Texas, a tragic incident occurred early Friday morning when a bicyclist was fatally struck by an 18-wheeler near the Beltway, as reported by the Houston Police Department.

According to HPD, the collision occurred just before 6 a.m. on the North Sam Houston Parkway East service road and West Hardy Road. The victim, a 53-year-old man riding a bike, was hit by the 18-wheeler. The driver of the truck allegedly failed to stop and provide assistance, and is now being sought by law enforcement.

A witness to the incident stopped and promptly called 911 to report the crash. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but tragically, the victim was pronounced dead.

The identity of the victim is pending confirmation by the medical examiner’s office.
