Motorcyclist dead after crashing into guardrail on I-45 Gulf Freeway, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A motorcycle rider died after crashing into a guardrail near the intersection of I-45 Gulf Freeway and the 610 South Loop on Friday night.

According to the Houston Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:40 p.m.

The South Houston Police Department had been pursuing the motorcyclist for traffic violations but called off the chase after three minutes.

The motorcyclist continued at a high speed, eventually going over the guardrail and landing on the southbound lanes of I-45.

Police officers and fire officials attempted life-saving measures, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been disclosed.
