2 men plead guilty in robberies of 8 North Texas US Postal Service workers

Two individuals responsible for a series of robberies targeting mail carriers have pleaded guilty, announced U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Leigha Simonton.

Jerrad Coleman, 18, and Louis Dixon, 18, were charged in April for their involvement in eight incidents.

Dixon entered his guilty plea on June 26 for robbery of U.S. Postal Service property, along with conspiracy to rob and possess unlawfully obtained postal property. Coleman followed with a guilty plea on July 2, facing the same charges.

“Employee safety is a top priority for the U.S. Postal Service and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service,” stated Inspector in Charge Kai Pickens of the Fort Worth Division. “This serves as a warning to anyone attempting to harm or threaten our employees: We will use all resources available to apprehend you and ensure justice is served.”

Court documents reveal that Coleman and Dixon targeted U.S. Postal Service letter carriers across the Dallas-Fort Worth area in search of Arrow Keys, master keys used to access mail deposited in blue collection boxes.

Possession of these keys allows unauthorized access to mailboxes, enabling theft of victim mail, including checks, credit cards, and sensitive information.

The robberies occurred over approximately four months, with incidents documented on January 17 and 18 in Fort Worth, January 25 and 29 in Dallas, March 15 in Fort Worth, March 28 in Arlington, April 4 in Frisco, and April 17 in Fort Worth.

After robbing the carriers, often at gunpoint, the perpetrators fled in getaway vehicles and subsequently used, sold, or disposed of the stolen Arrow Keys.

Both Coleman and Dixon now face a maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service led the investigation, collaborating with the Arlington, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Frisco police departments.
