Houston murder suspect accused of kidnaping missing Baytown woman

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man charged with murder in Houston is now also accused of kidnapping a Baytown woman. Kaile Goodwin, 29, has been missing since April 21, and investigators are seeking the community’s help to locate her.

Police believe Goodwin is somewhere in the Houston area and are asking residents to check their properties and outbuildings for any signs of her. They also request that people in both Houston and Baytown review their surveillance footage from the days around her disappearance.

“I never thought that I would be in these shoes,” Goodwin’s mother, Kaci Richardson, said during a news conference on Wednesday, expressing the pain no parent should have to endure.

Goodwin was last seen around 7 p.m. near an apartment complex on Decker Drive in Baytown. The following day, Richardson received a call from an unknown man demanding money and providing a CashApp account for the transaction.

“We want to bring her home, and I beg anybody that knows something, please say something,” Richardson pleaded.

Investigators used advanced technology to track a vehicle near the apartment complex at the time Goodwin was last seen. The vehicle was registered to the owner of the CashApp account provided to Richardson. Detectives contacted the owner and learned that Quan Flowers, a 39-year-old man, was the boyfriend of the vehicle’s owner and had been with the car in Baytown.

On June 20, Flowers was charged with the aggravated kidnapping of Goodwin. At the time of his arrest, police said Flowers was driving the vehicle that picked up Goodwin from the Baytown apartment.

On Wednesday, police revealed more details, announcing they had tracked the phone that called Goodwin’s mother for money on April 22. The phone was traced to an area on Houston’s southwest side owned by Kevin Patterson, who was wanted on unrelated felony charges and was arrested. During the arrest, investigators obtained a search warrant for the home.

Police found evidence linking Goodwin to the home and learned that she had been assaulted by Flowers while there. They believe she was taken from the residence but did not disclose its exact location.

Donna Shaw, whose 24-year-old daughter Megan Rouse was found shot to death on May 3 in south Houston, is familiar with Flowers’ name, as he is charged with Rouse’s murder.

“This man is a monster. He doesn’t deserve to live,” Shaw said, expressing her sympathy for Goodwin’s mother.

Goodwin is still missing and believed to be in Houston. Her family and friends continue to seek answers and peace.

“We need peace. This whole family needs peace,” Richardson said.

If you have any information on Kaile Goodwin’s whereabouts or disappearance, please contact the Baytown Police Department or Baytown Crimestoppers.
