Bollywood celebs promoted political propaganda for money: report

Numerous stalwarts from the Bollywood industry have been named by an Indian investigative website Cobrapost for taking money from political parties to boost their narratives on social media.

The website revealed that several of the prominent names that were discovered through an investigation, were mostly in cahoots with Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP).

It was further revealed, that the project was given the title of ‘Operation Karaoke’ that brought to light ample influential names that had taken money from political parties ahead of the 2019 general elections to promote their narratives.

Amongst the names were Arshad Warsi, Sunny Leon, Vidya Balan, Vivek Oberoi, Jackie Shroff, Shakti Kapoor, Rohit Roy, Gauri Pradhan, Rahul Bhat, Rakhi Sawant Mahima Chaudhry, Raza Murad, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Kailash Kher, Mika Singh, Baba Sehgal and many others.

Moreover, it was revealed that many from the list had agreed to go forth with the promotion without any monetary benefits.

Responding to the allegations, Sunny Leone turned to Twitter saying she “isn’t campaigning for any particular party.”
