Katy Freeway closed after big rig crash near Brookshire

All westbound lanes of the Katy Freeway are closed after a serious crash involving a big rig Friday morning.

The crash happened around 3:40 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the freeway near Pederson Road  in Waller County, according to Houston TranStar. At least two vehicles, including an 18-wheeler, are involved in the wreck near Brookshire.

Crews are working to clean up a hazmat spill associated with the crash, according to TranStar. How long the closure will last is unclear.

The freeway was still closed as of 7:30 a.m.
