A man was shot and killed in Conroe Saturday in connection with an on-going business feud with a storage facility owner.
James Robert Hixson, 69, allegedly tried to use his golf cart to run over the wife of Lawrence Mahon, the storage facility owner. He then charged at Mahon, according to police interviews
Mahon, who has an an open carry license, told authorities he fired several rounds after warning that he feared for his safety.
Immediately prior to the shooting, the Mahons said a verbal altercation ensued after they went to the storage facility fearing that the man was stealing from them.
Police did not file charges after consulting with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office, but the case will be referred to the grand jury. The identity of the victim is being withheld until the next of kin is notified
