21-year-old arrested after wrong-way crash in Arlington kills passenger in his vehicle

A 21-year-old man faces multiple charges after a wrong-way crash in Arlington that left one person dead and injured several others.

Police said the crash occurred just before 3 a.m. Thursday in the 4900 block of Matlock Road, near Bardin Road, when a northbound vehicle driven by Bronson Everett Kibler Jr. crossed the median and went into the southbound lanes. The vehicle hit a light pole, then continued north until it struck another vehicle head-on.

A 22-year-old woman and an infant were in Kibler’s vehicle, police said.

The woman, identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office as Jamayiah Sargent, was pronounced dead at the scene. The baby, who was uninjured, was released to the custody of relatives.

Both occupants of the other vehicle were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Kibler, who also was seriously injured, was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said he was arrested on one count of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.

Court records show that Kibler was arrested in October on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was placed on deferred-adjudication probation in March on that and other misdemeanor counts when he pleaded guilty to a charge of family-violence assault.
