Emergency repair forces closure of 3 left lanes of outbound Eastex Freeway at Parker

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — While Houston drivers are getting a reprieve from a potential traffic nightmare in the southwest part of the city, motorists who use the outbound Eastex Freeway may not be as lucky heading into the weekend.

TxDOT announced Friday afternoon that three left lanes of I-69 northbound at Parker are being closed due to an emergency repair of damage on the roadways.

State transportation officials said a hole in a bridge deck is the cause for the emergency closure.

According to officials, the repair will require cutting out concrete surrounding damage before placing in new concrete.

And, what could be bad luck especially for people who need to head northeast of town, TxDOT said it anticipates the lanes to remain closed until Saturday afternoon, with potential severe weather possibly impacting the timeline.

Elissa Rivas pointed at the Hardy Toll Road and Hirsh Road as alternates around the closure point.
