59-year-old arrested after body found at Pleasant Grove construction site

A 59-year-old is in custody after a man was found dead Saturday in a field at a construction site in Pleasant Grove, Dallas police say.

Volney Woods Jr. was booked into jail on a murder charge Saturday night in connection with the death of Luis Cepeda Lopez.

Police said Lopez was 52, but his age could not be confirmed with online public records.

Officers found his body when they responded to a shooting about noon in the 10600 block of Grady Lane, near Texas State Highway 635 and Old Seagoville Road.

After SWAT officers responded, Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene by Dallas Fire-Rescue, police said.

No other details about the case were provided.

Woods was being held in the Dallas County jail. His bond has not been set, and it was unclear whether he had an attorney.
