16-year-old charged with capital murder in fatal shooting of teen in Red Bird, police say

A 16-year-old teen was taken into custody Friday in connection to the fatal shooting of another teen last week in Red Bird, Dallas police said.

Robbery appears to have been the motive for the slaying, according to police.

Around 9 p.m. Aug 12, officers were notified of a shooting in the 6000 block of South Westmoreland Road, near Red Bird Lane. A 16-year-old boy who they found there with gunshot injuries was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.

The teen suspect taken into custody Friday has been charged with capital murder, police said.
