Man charged with murder in fatal shooting of 40-year-old man outside Lake Highlands fitness center

A man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of a 40-year-old man outside a Lake Highlands fitness center earlier this month, Dallas police say.

Dekelvin Michael Henderson, 44, faces charges of murder and assault in the slaying of Antonio Royal on Sept. 6. His attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.

Officers were called shortly after 11 a.m. to the scene near the LA Fitness in the 7200 block of Skillman Street, at Walnut Hill Lane. Witnesses reported a group of men arguing before shots were fired.

Royal was found at the scene and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Henderson remained in custody Thursday at the Dallas County jail, with bail set at $501,500.
