Pakistan lose to India in South Asia Zone tennis final

ISLAMABAD: Abubakar Talha hauled Pakistan back into the final but was unable to guide his side to victory in the final of the International Tennis Federation 12&Under Team Competition of the South Asia Zone against India in Kathmandu on Friday.

After Hamza Ali Rizwan went down 3-6, 3-6 to Tavish Pahwa in the opening singles, Abubakar overcame Fazal Ali Meer 6-2, 6-7, 6-2 to level the tie but he and Omar Jawad were beaten 3-6, 3-6 in the deciding doubles.

However, reaching the final meant that Pakistan will feature alongside India in the Asia final of the 12&Under Championships which will be held in Kazakhstan at the end of this year.
