11-year-old fatally shot in Old East Dallas, police say

An 11-year-old was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in Old East Dallas, police said.

Police and firefighters responded to a call about a child who had been shot in the 3500 block of Munger Avenue, near Hall Street, just before 3 p.m.

The child, whose identity was not released, died at the scene, police said. Details of the shooting were not available.

Police said a juvenile suspect has been identified and that authorities are looking for the teen. The teen’s identity was not released.

The shooting appears to be accidental, police said, and the investigation is ongoing.
