NBC 5 Weather Experts: Rain Chances, For Some, Today

A summertime cold front will slip into North Texas, today. The front will bring a slight chance of pop-up thunderstorms this afternoon and tomorrow. The most widespread storms will be close to the Red River and areas north into Oklahoma. For DFW, rain chances will be 20 percent both today and Saturday. Any storm will be capable of producing lightning, brief downpours and strong wind gusts.

There can be a small break in the hot weather close to the front. Highs will still be around 100 for DFW, today and Saturday, but 90s will be common in far northern sections of North Texas. Widespread triple digits will return next week with little to no chance of rain.
