2 arrested after shots fired near Rangers parade; no reports of injuries, police say

Two people were arrested Friday near the Texas Rangers World Series parade after shots were fired in a parking lot near AT&T Stadium, according to media reports.

Just after 2:30 p.m., people from two cars got in an argument when one of the drivers attempted to reverse but the other car was blocking them, Arlington police told KDFW-TV (Channel 4).

According to the station, police said groups of people from both vehicles got out and started fighting. During the fight, Tommy Phonthalangsy, 37, took out a gun and fired shots in the air, police told the station.

Court records show he is in Tarrant County custody. Phonthalangsy was booked on four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

He also faces a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon by a felon since he has a prior felony conviction, according to the Star-Telegram.

No one was injured in the fight or by the gunfire, KDFW-TV reported. A woman, Tiffany Keovilavong, 30, who was involved in the fight, was also arrested on outstanding warrants, police told the station.
