A porch pirate opossum in Southlake snatched a teenager’s birthday cookies

Take this as a cautionary tale: avoid leaving deliveries unattended on your doorstep for too long, as porch pirates—both human and four-legged—may be lurking nearby.

Recently, a box of Tiff’s Treats cookies intended for a boy’s 15th birthday arrived at his Southlake home. Delivered late in the evening, the package remained outside overnight, providing an opportunity for an unexpected visitor.

Surveillance footage captured the scene: the warm cookies, accompanied by a small bag and a blue birthday balloon, awaited the family on their doorstep. Suddenly, a swift opossum darted into view, making a beeline for the delivery.

In a matter of seconds, the opossum seized the box with its sharp teeth, engaging in a brief struggle before absconding with the sweet treats.

The following morning, the family discovered the deflated balloon and bag on their doormat, alongside a tattered, empty box strewn across their yard. It wasn’t until they reviewed their camera footage that the mysterious disappearance was solved.
