Highway 377 in Granbury reopens after standoff

Following a standoff near downtown, U.S. Highway 377 has been reopened in both directions after being closed for over an hour on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a homeowner on Tahiti Drive, adjacent to 377, the incident began with a crash outside her home. She witnessed a pickup truck colliding with two vehicles in her driveway. Law enforcement officers, present at the scene, instructed her to stay indoors with weapons drawn.

The homeowner reported that despite police efforts, the driver of the truck initially refused to exit the vehicle but eventually surrendered and was apprehended around 4:30 p.m.

While specific details about the standoff have not been confirmed by authorities, the closure affected the stretch of Highway 377 between Texas 144 and Hill Boulevard, including a section of the east-west roadway spanning the Brazos River. Notably, Highway 377 serves as a major route through Granbury, with only a few crossings over the river, one of which is the open Pearl Street crossing.
