Houston weather: Strong storms drench Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Periods of heavy rain and a few strong storms created some rush hour havoc this morning.

Some of the storms could be severe, with damaging winds being the main threat. Downed tree branches are a threat around Houston. At least one house fire was sparked as a result.

The rain should taper off by the afternoon followed by gusty NW winds.

Behind the storm system and the associated cold front, we will see some very pleasant weather. Rain chances stay out of the forecast through Easter weekend
